         Jbeil The Phoenician
Jbeil 
                        The city of Jbeil is located in the district of 
                        Jbeil, Mount-Lebanon. At 37km from Beirut
                        it's the coastl city and the capital of the district .
                        Its name has many meanings ; one of them is the
                        "paper" that the Greek would import from Byblos.
                        In Arabic, Jbeil is the small mountain.

Jbeil : Old Religion
The Kanaanites chose Jbeil as"Mecca"due
to its location on the road between Tyr &
Latakia.Their main Gods Tammooz&Ishtar
who fell  in love with each other according to
the epic . However ,Tammooz, who's known as Adonis , was killed in a hunting trip.
Therefore , the residents would hold sad 
ceremonies lamenting his death on the banks of Ibrahim river, because they thought that the red color of the river's water was blood of Adonis .       
Jbeil : Christianity 

Christianity has entered Jbeil since the time of the disciples of Christ ,due to the location of the city on their way from Jerusalem and 
Antioch.According to the different Churches
John-Mark one of the disciples, was ordain-
ed Archbishop of Jbeil .A church holding his 
name was built there, in commendation of him.
       

 

Jbeil : Phoenician Port
                                            It is port from which Jbeil's navigators bit 
                                            the sea . They used to manufacture their
                                            ships in it , and many merchands , especially
                                            from Egypt , would come to it for business.
Jbeil : Phoenician Castle 

The Castle that is standing nowadays,is a 
restoration of the Phoenician Castle during 
the Crusaders'Era .

      

Jbeil : Stone Tombs

Jbeil, which is in old Ruins ,is full of stone
Tombs containing remains of Phoenician &
